2006
marks ten years of Scarlet Begonias Radio on 93.5 FM WMWV in North Conway,
NH.
It's been on the air every Saturday night since July 9, 1996 with the
exception of this past Christmas Eve. It's a two hour program of live
Grateful Dead and "related" music, which could mean a recording
of any of over 2500 performances the band gave over a 30 year touring
career, shows by any of the former members with their side projects,
like Phil Lesh and Friends, Ratdog, The Dead, etc.; spin offs and tribute
bands like Jazz is Dead and The Dark Star Orchestra, or the ever increasing
list of bands from the next generation of the music that Grateful Dead
played, which has come to be known as "Jamband" music. On
any given Saturday night it could be a primal Grateful Dead show from
1969, or the latest officially released Phil Lesh & Friends soundboard,
or a Derek Trucks Band or Government Mule show - you get the idea.
If you don't live in Mount Washington Valley, no worries, in celebration
of the show's tenth year I've decided to start podcasting Scarlet Begonias
Radio! I'll be posting the latest show every week, and leave some past
weeks up as well. If you have any comments, requests or suggestions
e-mail me.
Thanks
for listening!
